-Duties

The aim of the Hotel internship is to improve yourself as a professional and learn how to work. Main duties are:

  • Serve visitors by greeting, welcoming, directing and announcing them appropriately
  • Answer, screen and forward any incoming phone calls while providing basic information when needed
  • Receive and sort daily mail/deliveries/couriers
  • Maintain security by following procedures and controlling access (monitor logbook, issue visitor badges)
  • Update appointment calendars and schedule meetings/appointments
  • Perform other clerical receptionist duties such as filing, photocopying, collating, faxing etc.

-Requirements

Everybody is eligible in working in hotels, but the program is highly beneficial for those studying a degree related to tourism and hospitality. Previous work experience in the same field is considered an advantage.

-Curriculum Activities

Students can spend their leisure time as they love. There are many beautiful beaches in the island with water sport possibilities and beach parties. In biggest island cities students can find many other leisure activities such as cinemas, shopping places, restaurants and bars. During the summer in some cases and if there is enough interests agency arranges island visit tours.

-Work Day

Day starts with breakfast. During the day person is working 8 hours with the lunch break in the middle of the day. A trainee might have a straight shift (work 8 hours in a row) or a split-shift (work 4 hours first and after a break work another 4 hours). In the evening trainees have their dinner and free time. Every day trainees have one or two meetings where they can discuss daily difficulties, obscurities or discuss complaints with superiors. Every week trainees have one day-off and can plan their day in the way they want, participation in the meetings is not obligatory.
