Hotel receptionists greet incoming guests and welcome them to the hotel. They confirm reservations, explain hotel amenities, give directions to rooms, and produce room keys. They also arrange for luggage to be brought to rooms upon request.

Being good at communication and most importantly knowing how to greet guests and make them feel comfortable, happy and exited for their stay is a big advantage for working as a receptionist. You will play a key role to providing the best experience to the customer by helping them with whatever they need. Also, you will dive in some various administrative work, clerical tasks and basic office tasks like organizing documents and answering the phone.

-Duties

1. Welcome and greet guests. 2. Answer and direct incoming calls. 3. Inform guests of hotel rates and services. 4. Make and confirm reservations for guests. 5. Ensure proper room allocation. 6. Register and check guests in. 7. Issue room keys and direct guests to their rooms. 8. Compute all guest billings, accurately post charges to guest rooms and house accounts. 9. Retrieve mail, packages and documents such as faxes for guests. 10. Listen and respond to guest queries and requests both in-person and by phone. 11. Provide accurate information about local attractions and services. 12. Liaise with necessary staff including housekeeping and maintenance to address any problems or complaints made by guests. 13. Inform housekeeping when rooms have been vacated and are ready for cleaning. 14. Enforce rules and policies of the hotel.

-Work Day

The day starts with a direct meeting. There are different shifts in the hotel so you may be placed either in the morning or evening/night. You may have to work: • Straight shift - 8 hours straight • Split shift - 4 hours first, have some free time and then work 4 more hours. In any conditions, you will be working 8 hours per day with a break for your meal.
