Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics (BSUIR) was founded in 1964 as Minsk Radio Engineering Institute. It was renamed in 1993 and has since become a national research and educational centres in Belarus.The university is located in Minsk, the capital of Belarus.The university consists of six main faculties: computer-aided design, information, technologies and control, radioengineering and electronics, computer systems and networks, infocommunications, and engineering and economics. There is also the military faculty, the faculty of pre-university preparation and occupational guidance and the Institute of Information Technologies.The university offers over a hundred different degree programmes at bachelor, masters and PhD level. Programmes are taught in Russian or English and students are given the option to study full time or part time. There are also distance programmes available for students who want to study single disciplines using distant educational technologies.BSUIR was the first engineering university in Belarus to offer programmes in English. Today, every third international student at the university studies in English.The university carries out scientific research in a range of areas including microelectronics and nanotechnologies, vibration diagnostics and plasma technologies. There are 176 educational and research labs and eight educational centres that were established in collaboration with companies such as Microsoft and Cisco.
