Carroll University is a located in Waukesha in the state of Wisconsin in the US. It is a private liberal arts college affiliated with the Presbyterian Church. When it opened in 1846 it was the first higher learning institution in Wisconsin.The 130-acre campus contains multiple 19th and early 20th century historical buildings.The university offers undergraduate courses in over 95 areas within the arts and sciences, health sciences and business, accounting and economics. Master's degrees are available in selected subjects.Since the 1960s bagpipes have been an integral part of the university's opening convocation and commencement ceremony. Freshmen are taken to their first assembly by a bagpiper, and upon graduation are led to commencement by a band of bagpipes. The inclusion of bagpipes emphasises the university's Presbyterian roots.
