Kabardino-Balkarian State University is located in Nalchik, Russia. It was established in 1957 as a pedagogical college. Nalchik is the capital city of Kabardino-Balkaria located on the river banks and at the foot of the Greater Caucasus.There are three main faculties at the university: medicine, sport and the international faculty. There are also nine institutes at the university: architecture, building and design; history and media; polytechnic; law, economics and finance; information and computer technologies; design; physics and mathematics; chemistry and biology; and sociology and tourism.Medical students will have the opportunity to learn through a series of interactive computer programmes in clinical anatomy, ivoclar prosthetics, and head and neck surgery. Sport students can also enjoy state-of-the-art teaching facilities including a biotechnics research laboratory and seismic monitoring systems. The university has been educating foreign students since 1969, initially of Syrian and Jordan nationality.During their downtime, students can enjoy the natural environment that surrounds them through activities including mountaineering, skiing and hiking. There are also thermal mineral waters in the local areas for students to explore. For those students wishing to explore the cultural and historical heritage of the city, there is a range of sites to visit such as the Nalchik Hippodrome, Central Mosque, and National Museum of the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria.
