A leading national institute in the fields of metallurgy and steelmaking, National University of Science and Technology (NUST MISiS) was established in 1918, and underwent several name changes before adopting its current name in 2008.Located in downtown Moscow, student at MISiS have some of the most varied options in Russia, while still being located close to the heart of the capital, close to some of the country’s most famous historic and cultural sites.NUST MISIS comprises 10 colleges and six branches which include undergraduate studies, ecotechnology and engineering, new materials and nanotechnology, economics and industrial management, information technology and automated control system, information business systems, and lifelong learning. Each college is divided into several departments, which together host a large number of students.As a well known contributor to the field of metallurgy and steel-making, NUST MISiS has developed a range of partnerships with universities all over the world. Joint degree programs are offered with the Freiberg University of Mining and Technology in Germany, and France’s Institut National Polytechnique de Lorraine.Among notable former students are journalist Vladimir Solovyov, along with Russia’s second richest person, Mikhail Fridman. Physicist Yaroslav Blanter, investment banker Kaiser Naseem and former political aide Arkady Volsky are also renowned NUST MISiS alumni.NUST MISiS is also a member of the Russian Academic Excellence Project 5-100
