Paris Diderot University – also known as Paris 7 – is located at the heart of Paris, and is the only multidisciplinary university in Paris to offer a wide range of degrees in the humanities, medicine and the sciences.The university is an heir of the University of Paris however it adopted its current name, referring to the French philosopher Denis Diderot, in 1994.From the patisseries and cafés, to the imposing architecture and famous fashion sense, the Paris offers students a cultural and satisfying experience.In 2007 the university relocated its central administration and the majority of its departments in a newly developing area of Paris – known as Paris Rive Gauche – a few streets south east of the Bibliothèque Nationale de France.The university has developed close relationships with a large number of foreign universities with an aim to develop their international standing and develop research and training activities across the world.The Central university library – the largest university library in Paris – is open to everyone and offers a wealth of resources, including books, periodicals and digital publications.The university offers more than 50 student associations on campus, practical workshops to develop amateur artistic activities and forums for discussion.There is an annual week of culture, held by the university, which offers shows produced by its students, as well as offering special rates for dance shows, theatre, opera and exhibitions. The cinema club, named CinéDiderot, shows rare and unseen films with guest speakers throughout the academic year.With the view that sport brings students together, the university offers a wide variety of unusual sport activities including: acrobatics, circus acts, french boxing, judo and jazz gymnastics.
