Established in 1907, Platov South-Russian State Polytechnic University (NPI) was the first higher educational institution in the south of Russia, with the approval of the Russian Emperor Nicholas I. Over the years, the university has had several name changes but, in 2013, it was given its current name commemorating MI Platov.Situated in Novocherkassk, it’s one of the largest towns in the South of Russia, located on the right bank of the Tuzlov River and on the Aksay River.NPI has one of Russia’s most beautiful campuses. Students can enjoy scenic strolls along the river before finding the perfect study spot in one of the many peaceful gardens.The university has 15 faculties and institutes, offering 35 different degree programmes at undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate level. There are also 17 research laboratories.Students can choose from a range of programmes in specialist disciplines like robotics, power engineering, and information security.On campus, you’ll find an array of facilities and services for students including a library, housing and sports facilities.Just like the academic programmes, the extracurricular opportunities offered at NPI are vast. Students can join one of the several student-run clubs, or try out a new sport. The university has competitive teams in mainstream sports like football and basketball, as well as lesser-known activities like sambo and powerlifting.The university also has partnerships with other universities worldwide offering students the chance to spend a year studying abroad.
