The Prefectural University of Hiroshima is a public university in the Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan, established in 2005. It has three campuses located in Hiroshima, Shobabra and Mihara.The university was created through the merging of Hiroshima Women's University, Hiroshima Prefectural University and Hiroshima Prefectural Health and Welfare University.The university has four faculties and two graduate school programmes. The four faculties are: faculty of human culture and science, faculty of management and information systems, faculty of life and environmental sciences, faculty of health and welfare.There is an established system of common courses which are part of all four-year undergraduate courses and specilalised courses which are linked with the common courses. Class sizes are kept small and teaching is provided from undergraduate to graduate level.The university has quite a selective admissions process based on entrance examinations and students' past academic records and grades. The admission rate range is between 20 per cent and 30 per cent.The university has a small number of international students.
