Samara State University of Economics was founded in 1931 by Russia’s Ministry of Education and Science. The university is located in Samara, a city in southwestern Russia.Academically, the university is organised into five institutes: Institute of National and World Economy, Institute of Law, Institute of Enterprise Economics, Institute of Management, and the Institute of Economics and Management of Construction and Housing and Public Utilities. Within each institute are a number of departments offering a range of courses. There is also the school of extramural studies, the faculty of secondary vocational and pre-vocation education, the faculty of additional education, and the regional development research institute. The university adopts a practical approach to teaching by encouraging students to put the theory they have learnt in the classroom into practice. This is achieved by offering industrial placements and internships to students as well as course work and projects that are more practical-based.The International Cooperation Office organises academic exchange programmes for students to study abroad at one of the university’s partner institutions. These include the University of Valencia in Spain and the University of California system in the US.
