Founded in 1989, San Sebastián University (Universidad San Sebastián or USS) is a private university in Santiago, Chile. It was granted university status in 2001. Its primary site is in Concepción, but also has sites in Valdivia, Osorno and Puerto Montt, with a campus area amounting to over 200,000 square metres.It offers 43 undergraduate programmes to some 27,500 students and over 20 postgraduate programmes to 1,700 students across 14 faculties: the faculty of architecture, the faculty of science, the faculty of physical activity, the faculty of education, the faculty of health science, the faculty of social science, the faculty of law, the faculty of economics, the faculty of nursing, the faculty of engineering, the faculty of medicine, the faculty of veterinary science, the faculty of odontology and the faculty of psychology. It aims to train integral and competent professionals who meet the needs and demands of modern-day society.USS has been repeatedly accredited by the National Accreditation Commission in areas of institutional management, undergraduate teaching and social responsibility. It is the third largest university in Chile, and Santiago is known for being one of the best cities in Latin America to gain a quality education.Located at the base of the Andes Mountain Range and on the coast, with the cities of Viña del Mar and Valparaíso less than two hours away by bus, the capital is a rich experience for students.
