Founded in 1913, Saratov State Vavilov Agrarian University is a higher education institution in the Volga region, with a specific focus on agriculture.Throughout history the Volga region has always been one of the largest regions of agricultural production.The aim of the courses on offer at Saratov State Vavilov Agrarian University was to prepare well qualified and practical agronomists, who were able to successfully work in the natural conditions of risky agriculture of the South-Eastern region of Russia.The university comprises 12 faculties, including: agro engineering, agronomy, food technology and commodity research, economy and management, environmental engineering and forest management, veterinary medicine and biotechnology faculty.To accompany students' education, the university has an educational, scientific and production complex Agrocentre, a training and production division, a technical park, and a veterinary hospital.Some 19 farms are available for scientific experiments as well as providing practical training of basic agricultural practices for students.There’s also a boarding school of natural sciences, postgraduate and doctoral studies, a publishing house, and a library, which is one of the largest agricultural libraries in the region.On campus, there’s a multipurpose sports complex with an indoor swimming pool. There are also more than 30 individual sports clubs on offer for students to join.For those with other passions, there are also clubs for those interested in singing, dance and theatre.
