The Russian State Geological Prospecting University has its roots with the Moscow Mining Academy in 1918, but was established in its current form in 1930. The university is based in Russia’s capital and largest city, Moscow.The university has six main faculties: geological prospecting; hydrogeological; engineering, prospecting and mining; geology and geophysics of oil and gas; economics and management; and ecology.The geological prospecting faculty drives geological education and was founded in 1918 with the Moscow Mining Academy and for students looking to study mathematics, geophysics, computer science, GIS and many more. The newest faculty is the ecology faculty, which was founded in 2009. The faculty aims to train specialists and allow them to remain in a sphere of continuous environmental education after they graduate.There are 27 bachelor degree programmes in total, ranging from part-time to full-time durations, in courses such as civil engineering, human resource management, safety engineering and many more. The university offers 13 master's postgraduate programmes across all faculties, in courses such as geology, economics, and management. In addition, the Russian State Geological Prospecting University offers nine postgraduate doctoral degree programmes in earth sciences, geology and prospecting, and economics fields.For international students and those who do not speak Russian, the university offers pre-study courses to prepare students for the courses. These can be taken in Russian language, mathematics, physics, IT, biology and chemistry. These courses run throughout the year, and are across between three and five days a week on a full-time basis.
