Sir Syed University of Engineering and Technology was established in 1993. The university is named after Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, a 19th century Muslim philosopher and reformer. His vision to transform Pakistan into a knowledge-based society through education and research has become a driving force for the university.The university is located in Karachi, a city in southern Pakistan.The university is organised into two faculties, the faculty of engineering and the faculty of basic and applied sciences. Both faculties offer a range of undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes. Undergraduate students can also study a bachelors of business administration.Alongside their studies students are encouraged to make use of the university’s sports facilities. There is a basketball court, volleyball ground, cricket pitch, soccer field and athletic track as well as indoor equipment for table tennis and badminton.Sir Syed University Research Journal of Engineering and Technology is a peer-reviewed journal published by the university. The journal welcomes contributions of original research findings that are written in English.The university is a member of the Association of Commonwealth Universities of the UK and a member of the International Association of Universities. It is also affiliated with Aligarh Institute of Technology in India.
