Tambov State Technical University (TSTU) is one of the largest educational institutions in Tambov, Russia. It was founded in 1958 as the Tambov affiliate of the Moscow Institute of Chemical Engineering. In 1993, the Institute was renamed Tambov State Technical University.Today, TSTU specialises in technical sciences (including information and communication technologies) and chemical, electronic, and agricultural engineering.At present, TSTU consists of eight institutes and two faculties, 40 departments and three associated colleges providing bachelor, specialist, master and postgraduate degrees. Departments include chemical engineering, nanotechnologies, materials and technologies, architecture, civil engineering, municipal and urban engineering, power, tool engineering and radio electronics and economics and law.On campus, students will find a library, student hostels, modern well-equipped laboratories and sports facilities. The sports complex consists of three outdoor sports grounds, and an indoor stadium seating 1,000, a 400 metre multi-lane racetrack and sectors for discus and javelin throwing. There’s also a 25 metre swimming pool and a space for gymnastics.Throughout the academic year, TSTU arranges different events, festivals and competitions. There are also a variety of clubs available offering everything from dance to singing to cheerleading.In summer, students are also invited to attend the summer camps, which are situated in the countryside near the river.The university also has partnerships with other universities worldwide offering students the chance to spend a year studying abroad.
