The University of Sumatera Utara was founded in 1952 and is located in the city of Medan in North Sumatra, Indonesia.The University of North Sumatra offers more than 100 different study programmes, at both undergraduate and postgraduate level, across 10 faculties and one graduate department.These are: nursing, psychology, pharmacy, public health, social and political science, mathematics and natural sciences, literature, dentistry, economics and business, computer science and information technology, engineering, agriculture, forestry, law and medicine.To supplement its offering across medicine, there’s a teaching hospital associated with the university. It’s the biggest teaching hospital in Indonesia and offers students the chance to specialise in areas like radiology, pharmacy, psychiatry, dermatology and neurology. In addition, there’s an oral and dental teaching hospital.On campus, students will find dormitories, a mosque and prayer room, an auditorium and student hall.Students can get involved with sports activities on campus, including: soccer, handball, swimming, table tennis, basketball and athletics. There are lots of sports facilities on campus, including a large swimming pool, sports centre, gymnasium, athletic tracks, outdoor sport pitches and a large stadium.The University of Sumatera Utara has established relationships with universities around the world, carrying out various exchange activities such as academic exchanges, scientific research cooperation and the opportunity for students to study abroad.
