The V.I. Vernadsky Crimean Federal University (Vernadsky CFU) is one of 10 federal universities of the Russian Federation. It is the largest higher education establishment of the Crimean Republic. It has a rich ancient history and a huge research and production complex, which employs more than 10,000 members of staff. The Crimean Federal University includes eight academies and institutes, five colleges and centres, 11 branches and seven research organisations throughout Crimea. The university was established in 2014 by the decree of the prime minister of the Russian Federation, Dmitry Medvedev. It united seven major universities of Crimea, including the V. I. Vernadsky Tauride National University, the National Academy of Environmental and Resort Construction, the S.I. Georgievsky Crimea State Medical University, the Crimean Agriculture and Technology University, seven scientific organisations and more. Different types of research and educational activities are carried out at the university to improve knowledge in humanities and natural, medical and exact sciences. The training of students is carried out in educational and research laboratories of different departments, in specialised computer classrooms, in language labs and multimedia studios, educational farms, fields of educational facilities and basic enterprises. In the CFU there are lots of arts groups, choreography and vocal ensembles, drama studios and sport clubs.
