Working in the front office, you will be the first person the guests meet in the hotel so you will play a key role to making their visit great by performing good customer service. Also, your job will include various administrative and clerical tasks. Your tasks will vary every day from basic office tasks (eg. organizing documents and answering the phone) to helping customers with whatever they need.

-Duties

In the front office your duties will vary every day and they may include: ensuring accurate and efficient running of reception including check in/out procedures, responding to guest queries in a timely and efficient manner, insuring that both the Front Office Manager and Reception Supervisors are kept fully aware of any relevant feedback from Guests and/or other departments, demonstrating a high level of customer service at all times, understanding thoroughly all hotel room categories, room rates, packages, promotions and other general product knowledge necessary to perform daily duties, maximizing room occupancy and use upselling techniques to promote hotel services and facilities, understanding correct procedures regarding the acceptance of foreign currencies, credit cards and cash in accordance with the hotel credit policy, ensuring all Guest deliveries and messages are received effectively and efficiently, acting in accordance with fire, health and safety regulations and follow the correct procedures when required, following and adhering to company brand standards, assisting other departments wherever necessary and maintaining good working relationships with team members.

Mallorca (Majorca) is one of Spain's Balearic Islands in the Mediterranean. It's known for beach resorts, sheltered coves, limestone mountains and Roman and Moorish remains. Mallorca is one of the world's sailing hotspots; locally produced foodie delights and wines, and first-class restaurants with Michelin-stars, have only added to its appeal with the rich and famous. An island steeped in history, Mallorca boasts charming villages, historic sights, an artisan and cultural scene, and popular events taking place throughout the year.

-Requirements

Everybody is eligible in working in hotels, but the program is highly beneficial for those studying a degree related to tourism and hospitality. Previous work experience in the same field is considered an advantage.

-Curriculum Activities

You can spend your spare time as you like. A rich cultural history has left many remarkable sights to explore in Mallorca. Castles and ruins, cathedrals and monasteries, grand manor houses and gardens, along with a host of art galleries and museums are here for you to visit. The island's capital city, Palma, is the place to marvel at impressive architecture from medieval times through to Modernist creations. Palma is also home to the most varied nightlife, with top quality restaurants and a host of late night bars and clubs. With over 500km of coastline, there are more than 200 beaches to choose from on Mallorca. Some of the larger ones are backed by holiday resorts and have great facilities, from shops and cafes to sunloungers and watersports. Equally, there are vast stretches of beach, particularly in the south, where virgin calas with Caribbean-esque seas await you. The east coast is filled with little sandy coves, ideal for sailing and snorkelling, while the west coast has a mixture of beaches and dramatic cliffs with stunning scenery. You can find protected Natural Parks in all four corners of Mallorca, as well as the rugged and beautiful Tramuntana mountains that run down the west coast. Walking and hiking are popular activities with a wide variety of well-maintained paths and clear signage suitable for all abilities.

-Work Day

You will be working 8 hours per day with a break for your meal. There are different shifts at the hotel so you may be working in the morning, evening or night shift. You might have a straight shift (work 8 hours in a row) or a split-shift (work 4 hours first and after a break work another 4 hours).
