Kitchen assistant helps the team in food preparation, cooking and presentation of food. In general, it means that you have to assist a Head Chef in preparation of breakfast, lunch and evening meals.

-Duties

Some main responsibilities of a kitchen assistant will include: • preparation of basic food; • unloading deliveries from suppliers; • keeping the storeroom in order; • Washing kitchen appliances, work surfaces. Kitchen assistants also help chefs to make food items ready for cooking a meal when customers order it. This involves washing, peeling and trimming food items.

Casares is a town and municipality in Spain, located in Málaga province, in the autonomous community of Andalusia. Sitting on a hilltop between the Ronda mountains, the Costa del Sol and Gibraltar, Casares is one of the most beautiful villages in the province of Málaga, a fact which earned it the status of Historic-Artistic Site in 1978.

-Requirements

Everybody is eligible in working in hotels, but the program is highly beneficial for those studying a degree related to tourism and hospitality. Previous work experience in the same field is considered an advantage.

-Curriculum Activities

You can spend your free time as you like. The scenery around Casares is truly magnificent; it is well worth spending some time to go wandering in the neighbouring region, where you will find a delightful array of flora and fauna, plus you can park at the top of the village at lookout area, or ‘mirador’, to enjoy the view and the country air at your leisure. Things to see in Casares: Visit Blas Infante birthplace, Iglesia de San Sebastian, near the square or climb up via Puerta Calle Arrabal, to the Castle, ruined church, Iglesia de la Encarnación now Centro Cultural Blas Infante, old cemetry. There are also number of signed walks just outside the village. Further afield there are beaches such as the Playa de la Sal which allows dogs and are beautiful and well kept. There are also golf courses in Casares and neighboring towns.

-Work Day

You will be working 8 hours per day with a break for your meal. There are different shifts at the hotel so you may be working in the morning, evening or night shift. You might have a straight shift (work 8 hours in a row) or a split-shift (work 4 hours first and after a break work another 4 hours).
