Working in the front office, you will be the first person the guests meet in the hotel so you will play a key role to making their visit great by performing good customer service. Also, your job will include various administrative and clerical tasks. Your tasks will vary every day from basic office tasks (eg. organizing documents and answering the phone) to helping customers with whatever they need.

-Duties

In the front office your duties will vary every day and they may include: ensuring accurate and efficient running of reception including check in/out procedures, responding to guest queries in a timely and efficient manner, insuring that both the Front Office Manager and Reception Supervisors are kept fully aware of any relevant feedback from Guests and/or other departments, demonstrating a high level of customer service at all times, understanding thoroughly all hotel room categories, room rates, packages, promotions and other general product knowledge necessary to perform daily duties, maximizing room occupancy and use upselling techniques to promote hotel services and facilities, understanding correct procedures regarding the acceptance of foreign currencies, credit cards and cash in accordance with the hotel credit policy, ensuring all Guest deliveries and messages are received effectively and efficiently, acting in accordance with fire, health and safety regulations and follow the correct procedures when required, following and adhering to company brand standards, assisting other departments wherever necessary and maintaining good working relationships with team members.

-Area Description

Ibiza is one of the Balearic islands, an archipelago of Spain in the Mediterranean Sea. It's well known for the lively nightlife in Ibiza Town and Sant Antoni, where major European nightclubs have summer outposts. It’s also home to quiet villages, yoga retreats and beaches, from Platja d'en Bossa, lined with hotels, bars and shops, to quieter sandy coves backed by pine-clad hills found all around the coast.

-Requirements

Everybody is eligible in working in hotels, but the program is highly beneficial for those studying a degree related to tourism and hospitality. Previous work experience in the same field is considered an advantage.

-Curriculum Activities

You can spend your spare time as you like. There's more to this sun-kissed, beach-bejewelled, pine-clad island than meets the bleary eye. Step off the beaten track for a spell in a rural hotel, a hidden hamlet, a hushed church or on a secluded north-coast cove to discover Ibiza's surprisingly peaceful side. Or roam the ramparts of Ibiza Town's World Heritage–listed Dalt Vila to immerse yourself in the island's rich history and heritage. Other places worth visiting in Ibiza are: Platges de Comte, Ramparts, Platja de Ses Salines, Stonehenge, Es Vedra and Puig de Missa.

-Work Day

You will be working 8 hours per day with a break for your meal. There are different shifts at the hotel so you may be working in the morning, evening or night shift. You might have a straight shift (work 8 hours in a row) or a split-shift (work 4 hours first and after a break work another 4 hours).
